Friday In-Person Alexander Technique Group
Six-week series, Kensington, Maryland
I am offering a small Alexander Technique group, welcoming beginners and those with previous experience.
The Alexander Technique is practical, hands-on learning that applies to everything we do: everyday activities like standing, sitting, and carrying, and skills such as playing an instrument, dancing, public speaking, exercise, tai chi, yoga, and more.
Alexander Technique is helpful at any age, in any condition or circumstance. Think of it as mindfulness in action.
We meet weekly, in person, to explore how simple changes in awareness and attention can bring more balance, calm, and enjoyment to our everyday activities and routines.
Working in a small group offers diverse perspectives, with time for personal attention, and group explorations. The series format allows the work to build from week to week.
Participants are welcome to bring:
an activity that matters to you
balance and posture challenges
injury recovery or prevention goals
stress or worries
chronic back, neck, knee and other strain

Teachers and trainees will explore an approach to teaching, which begins and ends with "quickening the conscious mind" something F.M. Alexander prioritized.
If you have had Alexander lessons you’ll experience the work from a fresh perspective.
If you are new to the Alexander Technique you'll experience this transformative work and begin to apply it to everyday life

Your training and teaching questions
Above all, bring your curiosity and open mind!
Technical difficulties, being interrupted, a change of plans, public speaking ... how is it that one person is triggered by something, and another takes it stride, or is even energized by it?
Lifestyle Priority is a concept from Adlerian Psychology for understanding the motivation of behavior. It is a helpful tool for understanding emotional patterns and how we are unique.
Participants find the workshop revelatory, intriguing, "a fun intro into deep topics."

Lifestyle Priority is a tool from Adlerian Psychology that helps with understanding emotional habits and motivation; the Alexander work is our means to respond in new ways rather than react.
You will come away with:
Insight about emotions, motivation, and useful ways to respond
Inspired about teaching and ideas to get the work across
Connected to the Alexander community
Who: Alexander Teachers, Trainees, and Students, who have taken Introduction to Lifestyle Priorities or a previous Alexander, Adler and Emotional Habits workshop .
